Oliver’s Rooftop and Oliver’s Beer Garden showcases Erie’s history through chef-inspired cuisine and public events. They are named after Oliver Hazard Perry, a U.S. navy officer who is known as the "Hero of Lake Erie" during the War of 1812. He is famous for the phrases, “We have met the enemy and they are ours,” and “Don’t give up the ship.” These phrases became the back-bone of the “Oliver’s” brand and inspired the iconography that the restaurant and beer garden are known for today. I directed Oliver’s branding to focus on stamp-like illustrations and vintage silhouette art, including illustrating multiple poses and headshots.
